In addition to online support groups, United Self-Help offers a 4th Friday get-together, Writers in Recovery group, and other activities.

Fridays – movement day for better brain and body

When: Every Friday, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM starting October 6
Where: Mōʻiliʻili Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Social Hall on the first floor,

Writers in Recovery

Time: Every Wednesday at 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM

This is the current format of the meetings:
1st 45 minutes: Check in and share any writing that we bring. Feel free to share some of your own writing or something by a favorite author.
2nd 45 minutes: Complete and share a short writing exercise together. Everyone should suggest a writing prompt and each member will choose one to write about. It doesn’t have to be about mental health. I personally would like to do more creative exercises.

If you are planning to attend, please try to join the meeting on time (3:30 PM) and stay continuously until the end. It’s very disruptive when people keep coming and going. Also, we should listen to each other when we share and give constructive feedback, before moving on to the next reader.
